How much does ombre color hair cost and how long does it take?

Ahhh the question everyone often ask . Everyone charges differently, depending the level of experience or the amount of time a stylist spends. You can go to a stylist that can give you an ombre in 1.5 to 2 hours time and charge as little as $140 . But in order to achieve the “dream hair” you’ve always wanted. Its best to do your research and go to someone that is experienced in this category and is willing to take their time with your hair. I have seen my fair share of horror hair done by stylist that have been a hairdresser for years that is why I can’t stress enough that it is important to find someone that is experienced in the specific area of expertise.
Most expert stylist spend about 4-6 hours on a client ( some may even spend 9 hours ) and charge anywhere from $300-800+ .This may not be within everyone budget but i highly recommend waiting and saving for it. Trust me it will be much more worth it than going to a salon that charges less and not getting the hair you want and than paying more money getting it fixed or redone over and over again trying to achieve that "dream hair" . Even if another session is needed at least you are going to someone you know is experienced and you are one step closer to getting that hair you've been wanting.
Back to the topic, I usually take at least 4 hours on average to 6 hours depending how big of a job it is. My ombres roughly starts at $350 (subtle ombre) to a big job which can go to $450+ depending how much work it requires. Creating the perfect ombre requires A LOT of work, it isn’t a half fast thing I do. I use all the products I love and feel work best. Because it requires so much time it is best not to make plans in case your appointment prolongs. Another tip I can recommend is bringing a lunch in case you get hungry.

What to expect when getting a ombre/highlighted hair?

1st session- It all depends on the hair and how much it can handle to achieve the desired hair color. A lot of the time I am able to create the desired shade in the first session unless it has been previously box dyed or contains dark dyes, perms, chemical straightening or it is just plain stubborn hair . If I am not able to achieve it the first time well… the good news is that we are one step closer to it !!! However I never make any promises because you never know how the hair will react. I can only do my best.

2nd session- If there are a couple of strands that still need re bleaching than I recommend coming back 2-4 weeks so the hair has some time to rest. In the mean time make sure you moisturize the hair as much as possible. Depending on how many strands the cost ranges $80+. However if your whole hair did not lift to the desired shade it would require one full session which would be the same cost as the 1st session since it requires the same amount of work. If this is the case I would recommend waiting at least 2 months or as per my advice.

Will my hair be damaged?

When lightening the hair it is impossible not to dry out the hair in some way. However now a days they have incredible products like Ultra bond Seal ( protects damage from UV, Heat and Chemicals while strengthen and reconnecting the broken disulfide bonds ). When lightening the hair this product is very helpful from causing further damage , although it doesn’t stop the hair from being damaged it helps gives the hair a bit of a barrier .

I just got my hair done, how do i take care of it?

PURPLE SHAMPOO – AND I don’t mean the drug store ones. You just spent so much on your hair, why not spend a bit more on a shampoo and make it last. IT IS A MUST unless you want your hair to go brassy faster. I recommend Milk shake (silver shampoo) or Fanola –No yellow shampoo, or Schwarzkopf Good Bye Yellow (silver Shampoo) are my favorite . Use it every time you wash your hair on the daily. But for those days you feel your hair isn’t as ashy, here is what you do
1) Damp your hair in the sink and towel dry the hair
2) Than slap on the purple shampoo( do not lather) and leave on 10 mins.
3) Relax and watch tv in the meantime
4) Hop in the shower and rinse the hair and proceed with conditioner

If the shampoo gets left in your hair for too long , your hair may turn purple, if this happens use regular shampoo until it washes out. Eventually the color will come out however it may require a couple of washes.

Tressa -Water Colors (shampoo) is my favorite for any brown, red hair colors

REMEMBER- Any time you add bleach to your hair it will change the texture of your hair .You will notice it being puffier than it used to. When the hair has been lightened , it is quite thirsty so you want to make sure you are moisturizing it as much as possible. I highly recommend using a hair mask once a week. Each time you wash your hair I recommend Placing a thick oil base or cream while the hair is still damp with any of the following products :Sebastian Potion 9 , (Moroccan Oil or Moroccan hydrating cream) or Milkshake(Incredible milk 12 effect ) or Lanza (Trauma Treatment) no need to wash it out. These are leave in Nourishing treatments . Once the hair is dried and styled I recommend putting a Light serum such as Milk shake(Anti Frizz Serum) or Joico ( K PaK Protect and Shine Serum). It makes the hair feel so much smoother and softer.

When should I come back for a retouch?

When should I come back for a retouch?

Depending on my clients I have had clients come back from 4 months to over a year. On average I would say my clients come every 6 months -1 year. You will be the one to decide when you want your hair redone. You will feel when it starts to bother you. Everyone is different. The ones that come 4 months later are usually the ones wanting to go lighter.

What is the difference between a dry Haircut and a Haircut?

A dry cut is when my client comes in with already dry hair and the hair is all ready for me to cut. A regular Haircut includes the price of a Wash and blow dry .
***All my prices include Flat Iron or loose curls.
